"Come al cielo gli aeroplani" music clip

Come al cielo gli aeroplani from wick3d on Vimeo.

Format: music videoclip;
Developed with: Salt&Lemon Productions;
Year: 2008;
Client: Gianmaria Testa;
My involvement: 3D toy plane modeling, animation and lighting;
Software: Autodesk Maya 2009

The toy plane was inspired by a rough sketch from the singer, that had a very clear idea of the final effect he wanted for his videoclip. I box-modeled a very low res mesh, just enough to use the Maya Toon Shader for the silhouette; then, instead of using the toon fill shader, I used a black-hole material for the mesh and I painted the poly surface "by hand", using the same Paint Effect outline . After animating the toon curves (to create the "draw up" effect at the beginning), I animated the plane, following the music and the director's needs.

New Holland spring special demo

New Holland Spring from wick3d on Vimeo.

Format: web commercial;
Developed with: Salt & Lemon;
Year: 2008;
Client: New Holland;
My Involvement: keyframe animation and lighting;
Software: Autodesk Maya 2009 - Mental Ray renderer

This was a demo presented to New Holand Agriculture Italy, when I worked as a freelancer for the small video production company "Salt&Lemon". At the time I managed only the animation of the tractors, while other two 3D artists took care about the rigging and setup part. The two models were both a cleanup and simplified version derived from the originals CAD projects of the actual machines. Recently, I rendered and composited this new version of the animation, just to improve the presentation.
The complete project was not so original, but technically challenging and fun; unfeortunately, it never came to light, due to contract and budget issues.

Salt&Lemon productions web intro

Salt & Lemon website intro from wick3d on Vimeo.

Format: animated web introDeveloped at: Salt&Lemon;
Year: 2008
Client: Salt&Lemon
My Involvement: layout, animation, particle dynamics
Software: Autodesk Maya 2008

This one could seem quite simple and direct (..and it is, from a merely visual point of view), but it was fun because incorporated a lot of the basic principles of particle dynamics: animated goals, sprite particles, expression controlling PP attributes and so on.
The main character was designed and rigged by another freelancer collaborating with me, but I completed the setup adding a lot of deformer-driven animations.
